OREGON CITY, Ore. (AP) – Two people were killed Sunday when they were hit by a passenger train south of Oregon City. The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office says an Amtrak train traveling from Eugene to Portland struck two people on the railroad tracks.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) -A wet winter in Oregon has led to numerous landslides, and officials warn of continuing dangers even as the weather shifts in coming months. Slides have closed state highways on the Oregon coast and in the Coast Range, and repairs will costs millions of dollars. Repeat storms have destabilized many hillsides and former landslide sites.

BEND, Ore. (AP) – Deschutes County commissioners say they expect to make a final decision on marijuana regulations in May. The Bulletin reports that a marijuana advisory committee has been reviewing potential rules for regulating pot in unincorporated areas of the county since the County Commission decided to “opt-out” of commercial marijuana in December.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A soldier from McMinnville who was killed while serving in South Korea will be honored in the National Army Museum. The Oregonian reports that after the museum opens Sergeant First Class Jeanne Balcombe will be one of the first of 41 soldiers whose stories will be told on steel pylons in a gallery at the Fort Belvoir, Virginia museum, which has yet to be built.
