The Mapleton Sailors had five individual winners and on relay winner on the track yesterday in a meet involving five Mountain West League Teams.  Alyssa Richards won the 15-hundred, Clarissa Triebskorn the 300 meter hurdles, and Josi Hays won the Discus.  Hays was also second in the shot put and the javelin.

On the boys side… Hunter Simington cleared ten feet to win the pole vault, Cole Spencer won the high jump and Tanner Wilson took the Javelin.  The short relay team of A.J. Foster, Dominic Wells, Simington and Wilson took the medal in 50.68 seconds.

On the diamond yesterday, Claire Waggoner was four-for-five at the plate with two RBI and two stolen bases and the Viking softball team crushed the Sutherlin Bulldogs 15-8.  Heidi Jones was two-for-three at the plate… she had a double and a triple and picked up the win in the circle, striking out five on the day and giving up only four hits.   The Lady Viking will be at home tomorrow for just one game against Junction City… first pitch immediately following the JV game which is at noon.

Siuslaw Baseball fell on the road yesterday, losing 17-nothing to the Bulldogs in Sutherlin.  They’ll be in Junction City tomorrow for two against the Tigers… the first game at noon.

Siuslaw Track and Field will also be in Junction City tomorrow.

College baseball…

Oregon was in South Bend yesterday where they took an early one-nothing lead in the first inning over Notre Dame… But the Irish took the lead in the second, never looking back for a 6-3 non conference win.  The Ducks are in East Lansing today where they’ll start a three game non-league series against Michigan State.

Oregon State is at home for three conference games against the Washington Huskies beginning today.  Today’s game gets underway at three… Saturday and Sunday start times are both at four… all three games will air on KCFM with the pregame show starting a half hour before the first pitch.

And finally…

The Oregon State Women will take on the number one ranked U-Conn Huskies Sunday afternoon at 3 PM in one game of the Women’s NCAA Basketball Semifinals.
