Veteran Beaver catcher the first to go

Oregon State catcher Logan Ice was the first collegiate player from the state taken in last week’s Major League Baseball Draft.  The junior catcher was taken in the “B” lottery round by the Cleveland Indians.  Left handed pitcher Matt Crook from Oregon was the first Duck selected.  The junior was taken by San Francisco in the fourth round.

In all, three Oregon pitchers and one infielder were picked up; in addition to Ice, the catcher; two pitchers and two infielders from Oregon State went in the draft.
