MYRTLE POINT, Ore. (AP) — The district attorney for Coos County says a Myrtle Point teenager was justified in shooting a man who police say attempted to burglarize his home. Coos County District Attorney Rob Frasier tells KCBY-TV that the 15-year-old boy feared for his safety when he grabbed a shotgun and shot the suspect in the leg.

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. (AP) — Authorities are investigating the death of a 76-year-old woman found in her Springfield home as a homicide. Police had responded Friday to a report of an unresponsive person to find Dorothy Ruth Ashley dead at the residence, where she lived alone.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Authorities have suspended their search for a missing hiker who disappeared in the Mount Jefferson Wilderness Area southeast of Portland more than a week ago. Twenty-one-year-old Riley Zickel, a Lewis and Clark College student from Sebastapol, California, went missing after entering the wilderness area July 27.
