Northwest AP Sports Minute

Here is the latest Washington, Oregon and Alaska sports news from The Associated Press

RENTON, Wash. (AP) — The decision by the Seattle Seahawks to sign former Saints All-Pro guard Jahri Evans is not a sign the Seahawks are ready to go through another training camp with changes on the offensive line. Evans went through his first practice with the Seahawks on Sunday, although he was limited just to position drills as Seattle had a mock game later in the afternoon practice.

SEATTLE (AP) — James Paxton took a four-hitter into ninth inning before he was forced from the game after being hit on the left arm by a line drive, and the Seattle Mariners beat the Los Angeles Angels 3-1 Sunday. Mike Freeman, making his Mariners debut after being called up earlier in the day from Triple-A Tacoma, had his first two major league hits, including an RBI single to cap a three-run fourth inning.

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Clint Dempsey had his second-career MLS hat trick and the Seattle Sounders beat Orlando City 3-1 Sunday night to end a three-game winless streak. Dempsey put the Sounders up 2-1 in the 37th minute.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Diego Valeri, Jack Jewsbury and Fanendo Adi scored second-half goals while both teams played a man short to help the Portland Timbers beat Sporting Kansas City 3-0 Sunday. Portland played most of the match with 10 men, after Diego Chara was shown a red card in the 12th minute for apparently elbowing Sporting midfielder Benny Feilhaber in the face after the two players got tangled up.
