Sweep Bruins in three sets

Viking volleyball maintained the lead in the Far West League standings last night with a three game sweep of the Bruins in Brookings.  Makenzie York led with 11 kills; Brittany Long had seven.

Douglas beat South Umpqua 3-1 to maintain second place, just a game behind Siuslaw.  North Bend edged Marshfield 3-2.  The Bulldogs are two games back in third.

Siuslaw is on the road Tuesday at Douglas before wrapping up the regular schedule at home next Thursday against North Bend.

In the Mountain West… Mapleton eased by Eddyville in four games… The Eagles and the Sailors split the first two sets, before the Sailors came back and closed out with two straight.  Mapleton closes out the season Tuesday at home against Alsea.

On the gridiron tonight…

the Siuslaw Vikings will be at Pete Susick (SUSS-ick) Stadium in Coos Bay where they’ll take on the Marshfield Pirates.  Airtime on KCST is at 6:45… kickoff at seven.  The Mapleton Sailors will be in Drain tonight where they’ll face North Douglas in a nonleague game at seven.

Viking XC in Timber Town

Siuslaw Cross Country will be at the Paul Mariman Invitational tomorrow afternoon in Philomath… JV races begin at one; the varsity at two.

Pac-12 football tomorrow…

Oregon will try to snap a three game losing streak tomorrow when they host the Washington Huskies at Autzen Stadium.  The “dawgs” have lost 12 straight to Oregon but they’re ranked #5 in the AP polls this week and are a clear favorite.  Kickoff is at 4:30… the pregame show on KCST is at three.

Oregon State is back at home where they’ll host the Cal Bears at six.  The Beavers have lost two straight.  The two teams kick off at six… the pregame on KCFM is at five.
