PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Damian Lillard put in 38 points last night, including two key free throws in the final seconds of the Portland Trail Blazers’ 124-121 win over the Phoenix Suns. CJ McCollum scored 33 points for the Blazers, with Portland leading by as many as 18 points early on before the Suns clawed back down the stretch.

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) — The Chicago Bears have waived former Portland State offensive lineman Cornelius Edison. Edison played in one game this season. He had hooked on with the NFL as an undrafted free agent last year, spending part of the season on Chicago’s practice squad.

UNDATED (AP) — Soccer star Ronaldo has signed a long-term sponsorship deal with Nike. The Portuguese soccer star has had a contract with Nike since 2003. Terms of the deal were not released but Ronaldo says this is his brand for life.

ROSEMONT, Ill. (AP) — The Big Ten has laid out the schedule for Friday night football games next season. They’ll include Washington facing Rutgers in a September first contest. The games are being added to the conference’s new TV agreements with ESPN/ABC and with Fox.
