Athlete of the Week

Siuslaw basketball standout Trent Reavis is Coast Radio Sports’ Athlete of the week. The Jr. post scored 19 points Monday night, nine of those in the fourth quarter, helping lift the Vikings to a 49-46 non-league victory over the Sweet Home Huskies.

Honorable mention is given to Brittany Long. The Lady Viking point guard scored 16 points to pace Siuslaw to a 60-31 victory over Sweet Home.

Viking girls dominate huskies

Speaking of which… the Lady Vikings turned in a dominant performance for that win over the Huskies. Long scored five of her points after apparently fouling out early in the third quarter… reentering the game in the fourth quarter after it was determined to be in error. Annabelle Tupua contributed 11 points, Abby Watkins and Destinie Tatum each scored nine. The Lady Vikings are on the court again tonight in Reedsport for a non-league game against the Lady Braves at 5:30.

Boys hold off Sweet Home

Things weren’t so certain down the stretch for the boys from Siuslaw. The Vikings and the Huskies traded the lead several times, but Reavis sank three free throws in the final seconds to ice the three-point win. Siuslaw is at home this evening for a nonleague game against Sutherlin… the tipoff is at 7:30.

College basketball tonight

On the court… number 25 ranked Oregon will host Fresno State this evening for the final non-league game of the season. The pregame show is at seven on KCST; tipoff is at 7:30.
