Rain won the day on the diamond Tuesday.

Viking softball and baseball against the Marshfield Pirates was postponed because of the weather…  They’ve both been rescheduled to Thursday afternoon, weather permitting.

Rain also prompted postponement of the Oregon State-Gonzaga game yesterday in Corvallis.  No word on rescheduling that.

The Ducks can play in the rain…

Oregon got their game in against the Portland Pilots… jumping on top early and cruising to a 6-1 win at PK Park.  The Ducks have now won five straight and head to the desert tomorrow for a three game conference series against Arizona.

Oregon State has won 23 straight and will be in Seattle for a three game series against the Huskies tomorrow.

On the track…

Marshfield won both sides of a Far West League meet in Coos Bay yesterday, North Bend was second for both the boys and girls and Siuslaw third.

Clark Hooper had another personal best in the 300 meter hurdles, finishing first with a time of 42.13.  He also won the 110 hurdles in 16-seconds flat.  Trent Reavis also won a pair of events… the Shot Put with a toss of 50-feet-9-inches; and the discus with a season-best throw of 143-feet-one inch.  He was also third in the javelin.  Ryan Rendon Padilla was second for the Vikings.

For the girls… Carissa Oliver won the shot put and the discus… her discus throw was a personal best of 134-feet-five-inches.  Abby Watkins had a season record in the long jump, winning it with a leap of 15-feet-6 ½-inches.
