Duck Arrested; Ems Even Things Up

Star Receiver Gets DUI

The Register Guard reported yesterday that Senior Star Receiver Darren Carrington was indefinitely suspended by the Oregon Ducks after being arrested early Saturday morning in Eugene for Driving Under the Influence.  Carrington ran into a pole at a McDonalds Drive through on East Broadway in Eugene.  Carrington, 22, decided to return to the Ducks for his Senior year rather than entering the NFL draft.  Now his tenure is in question according to the new head coach Willie Taggart.  Taggart said the university will continue to gather facts in the case before rendering a permanent decision.

Ems At Vancouver 2-2

The Emeralds series against the Vancouver Canadians is tied 2-2 after the teams split over the weekend.  Friday afternoon the Ems fought hard for a 2-1 victory and came behind in Saturday after trailing 2-zip for a 5-2 win.  Yesterday the Ems were down 6-4 before mounting a 4 run 8th inning to take an 8-6 lead only to see it fall away in the bottom of the inning giving up 3 runs to the Canadians.  In the top of the 9th Austin Filiere walked with two outs to get a runner on board for the Ems, but 2nd baseman Johnny Bethencourt flied out to end the game.  The series finishes up in Vancouver this evening at 7:05
