Vehicle Crashes Into Clinic

It is the third such accident in just under a month.  A Chevrolet Mini-van crashed through the front entrance of Peace Harbor’s Oregon Cardiology Coastal Clinic.  the hospital’s security team swiftly reacted and safely evacuated the building’s occupants.   And there were no injuries.  That according to Hospital Spokesperson Sarah Allen.  The clinic will have to remain closed while damage is assessed and repairs can be made.  Previously a vehicle crashed through the front of the Papa Murphey’s Pizza on 12th street and another crashed into The State Farm insurance office on Rhododendron Drive.

Pleasant Hill Threat

According to the Lane County Sheriff’s office Pleasant Hill school received a threat to the safety and welfare of students through social media.  Deputies investigated the threat and increased patrols around the school, but they believe that there was no credible threat.  The School remained open yesterday and events went on as scheduled.  The Lady Vikings competed against pleasant hill last night at the school without incident.  Locally Superintendent Andy Grzkowiak released a statement reiterating the release from the Lane county Sheriffs.

Lane County Seeks Board Members

The Lane County Board of Commissioners is seeking applications from citizens interested in serving on the Lane County Fair Board.  This committee serves in an advisory capacity to the Board of Commissioners on a wide variety of topics and issues.  The primary function of the Fair Board is to oversee the planning, preparation and production of the Lane County Fair. It also acts in an advisory capacity on ways to more fully utilize the Events Center and to meet both the County’s and the Fair Boards interests.  It sets the Fair admissions, entry fees, programs, implementation of contracts and approves annual Fair budget.  The term is a 3 year term and they meet monthly on the 3rd Thursday of the month.  Applications are available at Lanecounty.org

Weather Helps Firefighting Efforts

Wet weather and cooler temperatures helped firefighters to gain a little headway on the Chetco bar fire overnight.  The weather also helped to clear smoke from the coast line as well as the valley.  Eugene’s air quality increased to good and overall the Willamette valley’s quality has improved.  Firefighters continue to work on containment lines.  Higher humidity and low winds should help conditions today.  Brookings, though, is not expected to see rain today.

City-Wide Garage Sale Begins Today

Amidst the rain yesterday afternoon businesses and homeowners worked to prepare for the city wide garage sale that begins today through Sunday.  Along highway 101 you can see tarps covering items as bargain hunters await clearing skies today.  The city wide garage sale features over 50 locations.
