Eugene Emeralds Move On In Playoffs

It was all tied up into the ninth inning when the Eugene Emeralds decided to put the lid on Hillsboro’s post season.  four doubles, three triples, a single, a hit batsman, and two sacrifice flies later the Ems were up 10 – 4.  In the bottom of the ninth the hops managed one hit, but Emeralds pitcher Luis Aquino held strong and put down the side.  Aquino got the win with just 2 innings pitched but striking out 3 batters.  The Emeralds will face the Vancouver Canadians on Saturday.  The Canadians defeated the Spokane Indians in two games to take the Northwest league’s North division.

Volleyball Action

Pleasant Hill hosted the Lady Vikings last night in volleyball action.  After losing the first two matches 25-19, the lady viks fought back and took the third and fourth match 25-22 and 25-23.  Siuslaw kept it close in the 5th but in the end the Billies came out on top 15-12.  The Lady Viks will compete Tournament play at Canby High School Saturday

The Lowell Devils defeated the Mapleton sailors in 3 straight. 25-20, 25-15, 25-13.  The Sailor girls will be at Pacific tomorrow afternoon for non league volleyball action

Viuking Football

On the gird iron tonight, the Siuslaw Vikings are at home tonight hosting the Billies of Pleasant Hill in a non league Football match up, pregame on KCST is at 6:45, kick off from Hans Peterson Memorial Field is at 7 o’clock over Coast Radio Sports….The Sailors are at home tonight hosting Elkton in non league 8 man football, 7 o’clock in Mapleton ….

XC Competition

On the course tomorrow in at Ash Creek Preserve on the campus of Western Oregon University in Monmouth both the Siuslaw Viking and Mapleton Sailor Cross Country Teams will compete in the Ash Creek XC Festival.

College Football Action

Collegiate gridiron action Saturday begins with the Ducks at home hosting Mike Riley and the Nebraska Cornhuskers.  Pregame tomorrow on KCST is at 12 noon, kick off at Autzen Stadium in Eugene is set for 1:30….
