Enforcement to Beef Up For Rhody Days

With Rhododendron festival beginning this weekend the Lane County Sheriff’s department announced that it will be conducting saturation patrols in the Florence area and on highway 126 this Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  Deputies will be focusing on speed limit enforcement, seat belt compliance, and DUII detection and apprehension.  The Lane County Sheriff’s Office is anticipating heavy traffic and congestion on Hwy 101 and Hwy 126 West as a result of the festival. Motorists are advised to expect delays in the area and are encouraged to drive safely, drive sober, and always wear your seatbelt.   The saturation effort also coincides with the National “Click it or Ticket” campaign that begins today through May 27th.  The Sheriff’s department will also have increased patrols during this period as well.

LCSO Seeking Public’s Help

The Lane County Sheriff’s office is looking for information on a man they say gave a 9 year old girl a ride.  On Friday evening the Sheriff’s department received a call of a missing 9 year old girl near triangle lake.  The girl had been playing with her brother in the yard around 6:30 that evening and the brother reported to his parents that he could not find his sister.  After a quick search of the area the parents called the sheriff’s department.  Shortly before 8 pm a school official from Triangle Lake Charter School contacted the girl’s parents and reported that the girl was at the school.  She had been dropped off around 7pm.   Deputies responded to find the girl unharmed.  They are looking for a late model Maroon or Burgandy Sport Utility vehicle driven by an older gray haired man.  Police are looking for any video surveillance that may be along the route.
