Wildcats Over Ducks; Heimlich Sets Record in Win; UK Takes Game One

Wildcats Over Ducks

Arizona came into PK Park last evening and defeated the Ducks in the first of a three game series.  This is the final in a long up and down season for the Ducks.  The Wildcats peppered 10 runs over 9 innings with a 4 run ninth capping off their victory.  The Ducks managed 2 runs on 8 hits with two errors on the night.  The series continues this evening at PK Park at 7 o’clock and closes out Saturday at 3pm.

Heimlich Sets Record in Win

It was a tight game in Corvallis last night as the Beavers used a 2 run second inning to secure the win behind another stellar performance by Luke Heimlich.  Heimlich pitched 7 and a two third innings striking out 10 batters.  It was his seventh consecutive game in double figures and leads all pitchers with 139 strikeouts on the year.  Tonight’s game between the Bruins and Beavs begins at 4 o’clock, with a 3:30 pregame on KCFM; the series closes out Saturday with a 5:30 broadcast on KCFM.

UK Takes Game One

Kentucky walked into Eugene last night and brought their bats to take on the Lady Ducks in the NCAA Super Regionals.  They took a four 1 lead by the second inning after a three run homer in the first inning by Kentucky’s second baseman Alex Martens.  The Wildcats won game one 9-6.  It is game two of the series tonight in Eugene at 8 o’clock, tomorrow’s game is at 6 o’clock.  The winner advances into the NCAA Women’s Softball College World’s series in Oklahoma City.
