Athlete of the Year Award
The Sports Club, the Siuslaw News, and Coast Radio sports will be announcing the male and female Athletes of the Year at its annual ceremony this Friday evening at Siuslaw High School. There will be a dessert presentation at 6:30 from the Culinary program at the school followed by the awards ceremony at 7. 13 finalists have been selected, 7 boys and 6 girls, who have shown consistent performance at an exemplary level over the school year:
Abby Coday, Hannah Rannow, Gracie Freudenthal, Alexis Smith, Emma Collins, and Brea Blankenship for the girls. Kyle King, Trent Reavis, Richard Huff, Jared Brandt, Ryan Rendon-Padilla, Gabe Simington, and Dominic Wells for the boys.
Beavers Host NCAA Regionals
The Oregon State Beavers will host Northwestern in a double elimination for the NCAA Regionals. If the Beavers win Friday night they will either face LSU or San Diego State on Saturday. The starting Pitcher has not been announced, but it seems likely that they will save their ace starter Luke Heimlich for the possibility of facing LSU. The game will be Friday evening at 7:30 with a pre-game on KCFM beginning at 7pm. The Beavers are hoping to repeat their visit to Omaha this year after a 44-10-1 season.
