Smith Adds to Coaching Staff at Siuslaw; 3 Beavers in First Round of MLB Draft

Smith Ads to Coaching Staff at Siuslaw

Siuslaw High School Head Football Coach Chad Smith has added a couple of names to the coaching staff.  One name has been associated with the Vikings for a couple of seasons now.  Gerry Fleming has been a line coach for the Vikings and has been with the team for 10 years.  Head Coach Chad Smith:

“He coached the line the last couple of years I know and a guy that’s been around the program and a great guy to have on our staff.”

In addition to Fleming, Siuslaw Baseball Coach Tom Shinn was also added to the roster.  Smith says this in an opportunity to possibly add some players to the team that might have previously only played baseball and vice versa.

“I think it’s a great recruiting tool for him if he can get some kids that maybe play football that don’t play baseball, you know he can come out and help and maybe get some kids to come out to his baseball program.”

Shinn Coached football for Wilamina and Dallas High School.  Shinn says this is a great opportunity to coach with Smith and work toward a strong football program.
