Siuslaw Football 2018
The 2018 Football schedule has been chiseled in stone. The Siuslaw Vikings will be competing in the 3A Special District 2 Conference. The season will begin with non-league play with Elmira on August 31, and Philomath on September 7, and then Newport on September 14, with league play beginning on September 28 against Harrisburg followed by Santiam Christian, Pleasant Hill, La Pine and Sutherlin.
Beavers/Golden Gophers
The Super Regionals begin today for the Oregon State beavers. Game one of the best of three series will begin at 1:30 today. The Beavers will host the Minnesota Golden Gophers. Minnesota defeated Canisius and UCLA in back to back games to get to Corvallis. Minnesota’s coach, John Anderson has led his team to 19 NCAA Regionals in his career. This year the team is 44-13 going into the super Regionals and ranked 14th. Gopher pitching has 6 shutout games and their junior outfielder, Ben Mezzenga is on an 11 game hitting streak. An interesting stat for Oregon…they are 15 and 1 this season on Friday games.
Game two is at 6:30 Saturday evening, pregame is set for 6pm, and game three if needed is Sunday at 6 o’clock, airtime is at 5:30pm. All three games can be heard on KCFM.
