Beavers National Champions; Ems Struggle with Volcanoes

The Oregon State Beavers are National Champions once again as the defeated the Arkansas Razorbacks last night in Game 3 of the College World Series.  Freshman phenom Kevin Able threw a complete game shutout striking out 10 razorbacks and allowing just two hits on the night.  Abel also retired his final 20 batters.  Abel set a college world series record by winning 4 games during the championship run.  Adley Rutschman had three hits on the night also setting a record with 17 hits total for the series.  The Beavers scattered 7 hits and 5 runs across 8 and a half innings.  It was also a milestone for Coach Pat Casey who earned his 900th win.

Ems Struggle with Volcanoes

The Eugene Emeralds are still having a hard time putting a Win on the board.  After starting the season 5-3 they have now lost 6 straight after losing last night in Salem.  The Volcanoes proved to be tough opponents for the Ems who have consistently struggled from a deficit in early innings.  The Volcanoes struck in the bottom of the first with 3 runs and tacked on 4 more with 12 hits as the Ems managed just 3 runs on 4 hits.  The Ems are back home tonight against the Everett Aquasox.  Game time 7:05.
