Minor League All-Star Game
A three run homer in the top of the first inning got things rolling for the Northwest League in last night’s minor league baseball all-star game. The 5 run inning put the Pioneer League on its heels but solid hitting and good defense in the following innings helped to settle them in. the Pioneer League slowly worked their way back in the game with Grand Junction Rockies short stop, Coco Montes hitting two home runs on the night. By the bottom of the 4th inning the Pioneer League had battled back to take a 7-6 lead. The Northwest All-Stars added 4 more run and took a 10-9 lead into the bottom of the 8th inning when a couple of errors led to 4 runs and put the pioneer league ahead 13-10. The Northwest failed to rebound in the ninth with their final two batters going down on strikes. Regular league play resumes Thursday as the Emeralds travel to Everett to take on the Aqua Sox.
