Ems Take Series From AquaSox
It took 10 innings last night but the Eugene Emeralds managed to pull out a series win last night in Everett. The Aquasox took a 4-3 lead into the ninth inning when the Ems tied it up sending it to the 10th. Jake Slaughter h it a line drive single to deep center field allowing the runner on 3rd to score. Then a sacrifice bunt brought home Slaughter to give the ems a 2 run lead, the Sox came back in the bottom of the 10th with one run but Sox outfielder Ryan Ramirez hit into a double play ending the game. 6-5 Ems. The Emeralds return to PK Park for a series of six games in Eugene. The first three games are against the visiting Hillsboro Hops first pitch is set for 7:05.
Middle School Sports Registration
Registration is now open for Siuslaw Middle School fall sports. Athletes must go on line to Family ID dot com to sign up, all athletes must have a sports physical on file with the school. Siuslaw Middle School Volleyball and Cross Country practice begins August 27th at 3:30pm at the SMS Gym. Football will have optional practice, August 21st-23rd 3pm-5pm. Then official football practice will start at 3:30 on Monday, August 27th. The Fall Parents meeting will be Thursday, August 30th.
JV Game vs Elmira Cancelled
The first game of the Siuslaw high school Junior Varsity football season against Elmira had to be cancelled. According to Athletic Director Chris Johnson the cancellation was due to a shortage of players with enough practices to be eligible to play
