Ems Return to the Win Column Sunday

The Eugene Emeralds finish up their final home stand of the season tonight at PK Park.  Over the weekend they had games 2, 3, and 4, of a 5 game series with the Tri-City Dust Devils.  A 5-4 loss on Friday, a 2-4 loss on Saturday, but the Ems pulled it together for yesterday afternoon and took an early 3 nothing lead into the 6th inning and added three more runs in the bottom of the 6th for a 6-1 lead.  The Ems scored another 5 runs in the bottom of the 8th for an 11-2 final score.  The Ems had a string of 14 hits on the night and that included leaving 14 runners on base.  The Ems are at 28-41 on the season and 2 remaining road series left.  They meet the Salem-Kaiser Volcanoes on Wednesday and finish up the season in September in Boise.

Vikings Open at Home

The Siuslaw Viking football season opens this Friday night at home with a  non-league game against Elmira.  The viks will test their skills under the lead of new head coach Chad Smith.  The game will get under way at 7pm at Hans Peterson Memorial Field.  KCST will begin coverage at 6:45.
