Vikings Face Tough Outing Against Elmira

It was a tough outing on under the Friday night lights for the Siuslaw Vikings.  The non-league opener at Hans Petersen Field was one sided as the Elmira Falcons scored early and often as they defeated the Vikings 74-6.  It was a game for the young on the Siuslaw sidelines as is was a mix of freshmen and sophomores that contributed to a lot of the Vikings offense and defense.  Behind center sophomore Elijah Blankenship was 5 for 16 on the night with one being a 34 yard touchdown pass to freshman Braydon Thornton.  Next up the Vikings at home host Philomath Friday night.

Beavers Down Game One

The Oregon State Beavers defense had a tough time against the Ohio State Buckeyes.  The buckeyes seemed to score at will against the traveling Beavers.  It was a tie game early in the first period when the Beavers Conor Blount threw a 49 yard touchdown pass. But the buckeyes took command of the game scoring 11 touchdowns on the day.  Final score 77-31.

Ducks Start Slow Finish Strong

The Oregon Ducks came out of the gate slowly and didn’t get the offense moving on the first three possessions with the Duck Defense allowing Bowling green to take a 10 nothing lead. But then the Ducks turned it on. Scoring 30 points in the second quarter for a 37-17 lead at half time.   Qb Justin Herbert threw for 281 yards on the day.  The ducks added another 21 points in the second half beating Bowling Green 58-24.

Ems Make Playoffs

A win last night for the Emeralds in Boise means that they have secured a spot in the Northwest league playoffs.  The Boise Hawks took an early 2-0 lead in the first inning and the Ems fought back with a pair of home runs in the 5th and 6th inning to tie it up. Then a 2 out single in the ninth added two more runs and gave the Ems the win 4-2.  The Ems playoff appearance will begin Wednesday at PK Park against the Hillsboro hops.
