Vikings Pick Up First League Win

Last night, on the home court, the Lady Vikings were focused against Marist Catholic.  Coach Jon Hornung said he was concerned about going toe to toe with the Spartans but the girls showed up to play.  The first set was a back and forth battle with the Vikings finally falling in the first set 28-26.  But Hornung says the Lady Viks stayed tough and battled to move forward in the match, taking the second set 27-25 and finishing off the Spartans 25-19 and 27-25.  Mak York led the team with 12 kills but several players stepped up.

“Alyssa Richards, Mia Collins, and Elissa Hurley all had 8 kills so they played great.”

Hornung says the defense was very strong last night also.

“Haydn Muller had 9 digs, Mia Collins had 9, Alyssa Richards had 10 and Mak York had 12.”

It was the first league win of the season. The girls take on Marshfield on the road on Tuesday.
