Viking Girls Take Second in State; Ducks Spoil Kelly’s Return; Trojans Top Beavers

Viking Girls Take Second in State

The Lady Vikings took a second place finish in Saturday’s state Cross Country Championships.  They were just 3 points shy of overtaking Marist.  Junior Hannah Rannow led the charge for the Vikings with a fourth place finish and a time of 19:02, her second best time of the season with sophomore Brea Blankenship finishing 15th with a 20:16 time.  Junior Brendon Jensen was the top finisher for the boys, coming in 25th with a time of 17:15.  The boys finished in 8th place.

Ducks Spoil Kelly’s Return

The Oregon Ducks came back from their defeat in the desert on Saturday.  Chip Kelly’s return to Autzen was not a pleasant one as the Ducks quickly capitalized on Bruin mistakes.  The Ducks scored first on a punt return and then got the ball back deep in UCLA territory on a muffed punt.  The Ducks made it 21 – zip as Justin Herbert kept his streak alive with his 24th consecutive game with a touchdown pass.  The Ducks added three more touchdowns in the second half.  Final score 42 – 21.  The ducks are 6-3 overall and 3-3 in PAC 12 play.

Trojans Top Beavers

The Beavers had their hands full with the USC Trojans Saturday evening.  The Trojans came out and scored three touchdowns to take a 21 nothing lead before the Beavers found the endzone.  But OSU scored twice in the second quarter to come within 7.  It was back and forth in the third with each team scoring at TD, but the Trojans added 10 in the fourth quarter to take the final score to 38-21.  The Beavers are 2-7 on the season and 1-5 in PAC 12 play.
