Grants Pass Winter Kickoff

It was a slow start for the Siuslaw Viking Wrestling Team at the Grants Pass Winter Kickoff Tournament according to Coach Neil Wartnik.  The Vikings lost their first seven matches before turning it around.  In the 285 pound weight class Matthew Horrillo took 4th place.   After a first round loss, Horrillo had 4 consecutive wins.  Wartnik said the final match was one of the best and most exciting matches he has seen with 3 overtime rounds and a 30 second Ultimate Overtime Period.  Riley Jennings in the 170 pound weight class won 4 out of 6 matches for a 5th place finish.

The Vikings wrestle next in North Bend tomorrow night with matches against Thurston, Reedsport, and North Bend.
