Sutherlin Wrestling Classic
Over the weekend the Siuslaw Vikings were on the mat at the Sutherlin Wrestling Classic. Elijah LaCosse took second place in the 132 pound class defeating North Bend’s Gabriel Johnston and Cottage Grove’s Chance Ralston to make it to the championship match where he was defeated by Sutherlin’s Bryce Olsen. Ryan Jennings took 4th place after losing by decision to Creswell’s Logan Johnson.
Matthew Horrillo took third place in the 285 pound weight class by winning a tie breaker over Zach Vigil from Glide.
Lady Vikings Play Tough Against Cottage Grove
The Lady Vikings held on close Friday night as the dueled with Cottage Grove. Mia Collins had 15 points and 6 rebounds. Brea Blankenship added 6 points 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 5 steals holding Cottage Grove to just 39 points in a close game. Vikings fell 5 short 39-34
In prep basketball Cottage Grove got by the Siuslaw boys on Friday night. 59-42
Ducks and Beavers
Oregon Ducks came out on top in their pac 12 match agains USC on Sunday. The Ducks defeated the Trojans 81-60
And the Beavers rolled over the Bruins of UCLA 79-66.
