Marist Tops Vikings; Freethrows Foul Lady Viks; Lady Sailors Snap Losing Streak; Sailors End Game Shorthanded

Marist Tops Vikings

The Viking boys were on the court last night in Eugene against Marist.  Siuslaw struggled against a quick paced Marist and offensively the Vikings had a tough time against the Spartan defense.  Nick Swift led Viking scorers with 9 and Braydon Thornton had 7 as the Vikings drop their second league game.

Freethrows Foul Lady Viks

On the lady’s side the Vikings led Marist throughout the game and held a 3 point lead with 6 seconds left as the Marist Spartans Tied the game sending it into overtime.  The Vikings who were only 6 deep on the bench had expended most of their energy in regulation and were playing on pure heart, but the Spartans took advantage in ot The Viking girls had several chances from the free throw line but couldn’t take advantage of it going 1 for 6 in the last two minutes of regulation.  The Spartans came out on top in OT 51-45.  Lindsey Long led all Vikings with 16 points followed by Gracie Freudenthal with 11 and Alyssa Richards with 10.

Lady Sailors Snap Losing Streak

The Mapleton Sailors were on the court also last night and the Lady sailors snapped a 57 game losing streak by defeating Eddyville on the road.  The girls had 22 steals and 24 rebounds on the night and Coach Melissa Duffy said the girls showed confidence throwing up 59 shots on the night, over double their normal attempts.  Jahala Blake had 4 steals and 3 rebounds, Eva Spradling had 4 blocks, 6 rebounds and was 6 for 13 from the line. Sailors End Game Shorthanded

The Sailor boys were locked in a close competition against Eddyville with JJ Neece putting up 24 points and AJ Moso adding 9.  The Neece Brothers both fouled out with 3 minutes left leaving only 4 players on the court.  Sailors lost 46-39.
