Nick Lutz Invitational
Saturday was the annual Nick Lutz Memorial Invitational, wrestlers from 19 schools arrived at Siuslaw High School to compete. #4 ranked Matthew Horillo won the 220 pound bracket defeating all four of his opponents including the top seed in the state, Benjamin Lutz from Sheldon. Riley Jennings placed 2nd overall in the 170 pound weight class. Hector Garcia, Elijah Lacosse, and Brady Libby all took third in their respective weight categories. For the Viking varsity girls Adriana Edwards place third in the 130 pound category pinning 2 with one defeat by fall.
Siuslaw Sunk By Marshfield
On Friday night it was a tough outing for the Siuslaw basketball teams, both the boys and girls were defeated as they faced Marshfield. The boys lost 68-31 and the girls lost 77-29
Cats Beat Beavers
Arizona bounced back after their loss to the Ducks. The Wildcats hosted the visiting Beavers on Saturday defeating them 82-71. The Ducks also went down in Tempe as the ASU SunDevils defeated them 78-64.
Ducks Defeat Wildcats
It was a different story for the women. The Duck women defeated the Arizona Wildcats 93-60 yesterday at Matthew Knight arena. Satou Sabally led the Ducks with 25 points. And Sabrina Ionescu scored another triple double with 21 points, 12 rebounds, and 12 assists for a career 16 triple double and 6 this season.
Double Overtime Leads SunDevils Over Beavers
The Lady Beavers were locked in a tight battle against the ASU SunDevils. The SunDevils took the Beavers to a double overtime in Corvallis yesterday and finished with a 79-76 victory.
