City to Host Pre-construction Meeting

Survey crews have been out all week preparing for the first step of Revision Florence; the road and streetscape project planned for highway 101 from the Siuslaw river bridge to the 126 Intersection and east to spruce street.  Plans for actual construction are set for early March and the City of Florence and the Florence Urban Renewal Agency have planned a pre-construction meeting at the Florence Event Center on Wednesday, February 27th and 5:15pm.  The City along with ODOT will present details of the project.  The contractor, Alex Hodge Construction, design team, and ODOT will be available for questions following the presentation.

Military Heritage Day

The Oregon Coast Military Museum will be holding a Military Heritage Day on February 23rd at 2pm.  Board Member Dave Burkett will be sharing his knowledge as a Civil War Living Historian with a focus on Oregon’s connection to the Civil War.  The presentation is free of charge.

Stolen Vehicle

The Lane County Sheriff’s department is investigating the theft of a classic 1955 Chevy.  Tuesday evening unknown persons broke into property owned by Lance and Barbara Rowland on highway 101 and made off with the vehicle.  It is a 2 tone pale blue and white with Oregon license plates SDN-711.  If you have any information please contact the Lane County Sheriff’s department.

Free Fishing

This Saturday and Sunday in Oregon is a free fishing weekend sponsored by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife.  Crabbing, fishing, and clamming will be allowed without a license or tag, but all other regulations regarding size, number and closure areas apply.  ODFW recommends winter steelhead, rainbow trout, and if you want to take a road trip, Oregon even offers a few places for ice fishing.

Radio Auction

This Friday and Saturday tens of thousands of dollars of auction items will be available during Coast Radio’s Radio Auction.  The annual event is an opportunity for members of the community to get great deals on scores of items from state of the art hearing aids to nights out on the town with various restaurants along with products and services from many of Florence’s businesses.  The auction begins at 9:15 on Friday and continues until the first 100 items are auctioned. And then again on Saturday morning until finished.  The auction is a private auction and is solely intent on providing great deals for listeners.
