Athlete of the Week
The sports Club, the Siuslaw News and Coast Radio Sports congratulate sophomore wrestler Ryan Jennings as this week’s Athlete of the week. Ryan advance to State Competition this past weekend and went 2 for 4 on the day in the 156 pound category. Ryan missed placing after a fall against Madras wrestler Victor Torres.
Honorable mention goes to fellow wrestler, junior Matthew Horrillo.
Spring Sports Training Opens
Baseball, softball, and Track and Field officially got under way yesterday. Head Baseball Coach Tom Shinn says this year’s roster is made up of 24 athletes with 4 seniors, 7 juniors, 5 sophomores and 8 freshman.
Track and Field kicks off with the Siuslaw Icebreaker on March 21st at Hans Peterson Field. Five schools are currently on the roster for the meet. Mapleton, Coquille, Douglas and North Bend along with Siuslaw are scheduled to compete.
