Long Outing For Vikings Ends in Loss

Last night the Siuslaw Vikings hosted the Sutherlin Bulldogs at Jiggs Dodson Field for a 3 hour game marred by errors from both teams a total of 9.  Coach Tom Shinn, said it is difficult to win games when errors are abundant.  Siuslaw had 5 of the 9 errors.  In addition Shinn said 8 of 13 strikeouts came with batters looking.  Siuslaw got 5 hits on the night and 5 runs but Sutherlin managed 7 runs including to 3 run innings.  Final Score 7-5 Sutherlin.  Game two of the double header started but ultimately cancelled due to the late hour.

Lady Vikings Bested By Bulldogs

The Lady Vikings Duked it out with Sutherlin last night.  The Vikings were leading 8-4 until the bulldogs mounted a comeback scoring 2 in the fifth and 2 more in the 6th to tie it up.  Sutherlin then put the finishing touch in the 7th and besting the Vikings 9-8.  Game 2 was another slug fest with Siuslaw coming out in the first with 4 runs to match Sutherlin’s 4 runs and Siuslaw added 8 more in the 5th inning, but Sutherlin had more on the bat and took the game 14-12.  Siuslaw’s Nina Aaron pitched both games for the Vikings giving up 22 hits in the two matches.

Ducks Advance to Semi-finals

The Oregon Ducks knocked off Utah last night to advance to the semi final round of the PAC 12 Tournament.  The Ducks Payton Pritchard and Louis King both scored 20 points in the win.  Final score 66-54.  Ducks play Arizona State tonight.  Pregame on KCST is at 8pm.

Beavers Eliminated

The Oregon State Beavers were downed by Colorado and eliminated from the tournament. 73-58

Baseball:

Pac Twelve Baseball this afternoon pits the Beavers against the Bruins at UCLA.  First pitch is set for 6 o’clock; pregame on KCFM is at 5:30.  The series plays out through Sunday.

 

The Oregon Ducks host the Washington Huskies for the first of three games this evening at PK Park at 6 o’clock.  The series plays out through Sunday in Eugene.
