Athlete of the Week
The Sports Club, the Siuslaw News and Coast Radio Sports congratulate Elijah Blankenship as this week’s Athlete of the Week. In last week’s outing against Sutherlin, Elijah was 3 for 3 at the plate with 1 RBI and a base on balls. Blankenship reached base each of his four appearances at the plate.
Honorable mention goes to Mapleton Runner Brier Shird who set personal records in the 200 and 800 meter runs taking second place in the 800.
Baseball Today
Siuslaw is on the diamond this afternoon taking on the Billies of Pleasant Hill in both baseball and softball. The Lady Viks are on the road to Pleasant Hill to face the Billies, first pitch is at 4:30. The Viking Boys will be in Florence hosting this afternoon’s game that airs on KCST. Pregame from Jigg’s Dodson Field is at 4:45, first pitch is at 5 o’clock.
Women’s NCAA Bid
The 2019 NCAA Division One women’s basketball brackets were released Monday afternoon with #2 seed Oregon in the Portland Regionals Friday afternoon against Portland State. #4 seed Oregon State will take on Boise State Saturday in the Corvallis Regionals.
