Yesterday at the Siuslaw Icebreaker Track and Field meet, Siuslaw sophomore Brea Blankenship ran like the wind in the 800 meters with a time of 2:28.80 to take a first place finish.  Her closest competitor was teammate Naomi Shoji who finished with a time of 2:40.55.  Mapleton’s Briar Shird finished 3rd.  Hannah Rannow won the 1500 meter race with a time of 5:03.13 beating her closest opponent by just over 21 seconds.  The Siuslaw team of Blankenship, Rannow, Freudenthal and Shoji won the 4×400 meter race with a time of 4:21.72The boys 800 meters was won by Siuslaw junior Kiger Johnson, and the 1500 meter race was won by Siuslaw junior Brendon Jenson.  The 3000 meter men’s race was won by freshman Chad Hughes and second place was junior Jared Northrup.  Ryan Jennings posted a time of 54.88 in the 400 meters for a second place finish.  Mapleton’s JJ Neece finished first in the 300 meter hurdles, and the Siuslaw team of Jennings, Johnson, Lawrence and Jensen won the 4×400 meter race.  Back to the women’s side, freshman Rylee Colton took first place in the 3000 meter race with teammate, junior Chloe Madden taking second.  Sophomore Gracie Freudenthal took first place in both the 100 and 300 meter hurdles.

 

In field events, sophomore Andrea Osbon placed first in the shot put for the girls with a toss of 35ft 4in.  senior Madison Reynolds placed second with 30ft 8in. Osbon also placed first in the discus 106ft 2.25 inches.  For the boys, junior Matthew Horrillo finished 3rd in the shot put.  Sophomore Skylar Loomis finished second for Siuslaw in the javelin.  Mapleton sophomore JJ Neece took the prize for the high jump at 5ft 8in. and finished second in the triple jump with 39ft 9in.

Viking Baseball

The Siuslaw Vikings are on the road for non league baseball this afternoon against Mazama High School in Altamont at 4 o’clock. Saturday the Vikings will play a double header against Klamath Union in Klamath Falls.

The Lady Viks games against the Billies of Pleasant Hill this afternoon have been cancelled due to poor field conditions.

NCAA Tourney

The Oregon Men take on the Wisconsin Badgers in round one of the NCAA Men’s Basketball tournament. Pregame on KCST is at 1 o’clock, the Ducks and Badgers tip off in San Jose at 1:30.

Baseball PAC 12

Pac Twelve Baseball this afternoon both Oregon teams on their home diamonds.  The Beavers will take on the Cal Bears this evening at 7 o’clock in Corvallis. Pregame is at 6:30 on KCFM.  The two teams face off at Goss Stadium Saturday at 1 o’clock and Sunday at 2 o’clock.

 

While in Eugene Oregon will host Arizona State for the first of three games at PK Park.  Tonight’s first pitch is at 6 o’clock, the series plays out through Sunday.

NCAA Women’s Tourney

In the women’s NCAA Portland Regionals #2 seed Oregon will face Portland State this evening at 4pm, while in the Corvallis Regionals Oregon State will play Boise State at 12:30 Saturday afternoon.
