Ducks Advance in NCAA; Vikings Lose 3 on the Road; Viking Softball; Diamond Ducks; Beavers Take Two From Cal; Lady Beavers and Ducks Advance

Ducks Advance in NCAA

The Ducks continue forward in the NCAA Tournament advancing to the Sweet 16 last night after handily defeating UC Irving 73-54.  The Ducks got a lift from Payton Pritchard who scored 18 on the night and Kenny Wooten continues to be on the defensive with 7 blocked shots.  The Ducks will face Virginia next on Thursday in Louisville Kentucky.  Game time is 6:30 with a 7 o’clock tip off.

Vikings Lose 3 on the Road

This weekend the Siuslaw Vikings went 0 for 3 on the road falling first to Mazama High school on friday,  21-0, they then faced Klamath Union on Saturday, where they kept it close in the first game losing 8-7 and were blanked in the second 11-nothing.  The Vikings are at home tomorrow against Neah Kah Nie. The game is scheduled to start at 2 pm with a 1:45 pregame on KCST.

Viking Softball

Siuslaw Viking Softball dropped two non-league games on Saturday, losing to phoenix 10-2 and 18-6, but coach Sean O’mara said he had great effort from his team including Nina Aaron who went 4-6 from the plate and had an 818 on base percentage.  Alyssa Richards also had a great defensive game with 22 putouts with 1 assists and no errors.

Diamond Ducks

Over the weekend the Ducks were on the Diamond in Eugene hosting the Arizona State Sun Devils.  ASU won the first outing 12-2 on Friday.  On Saturday the Ducks took the Sun Devils to 12 innings before the Duck’s Evan Willimans hit a solo home run to end the game 5-4.  On Sunday, the Sun Devils came back and defeated the Ducks 7-3

Beavers Take Two From Cal

The Beavers went 2-1 against Cal over the weekend. Dropping the first game on Friday 3-2 but bouncing back on Saturday and Sunday taking both games 3-2 and 10-5.

Lady Beavers and Ducks Advance

On Saturday the lady Beavers advanced to the next round of the NCAA tournament by defeating Boise State 80-75.  They face Gonzaga this evening at 6 pm in Corvallis.

 

The Lady Ducks move to the Sweet 16 after handing the Indiana Hoosiers a 91-68 defeat last night.  They play again Friday in Portland with a team that is yet to be determined.
