Athlete of the Week
The Sports Club, the Siuslaw News, and Coast Radio Sports congratulate Siuslaw sophomore Gracie Freudenthal as this week’s athlete of the week. At last week’s Prefontaine Rotary Invitational, Gracie posted a first place finish in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 16.48 and finished second in the 300 meter hurdles 1/10th of a second behind the first place finisher with a time of 49.27.
Honorable mention goes to junior distance runner Chloe Madden for her third place finish in the 3000 meter race with a personal record time of 11:37.96
Vikings at Home Today
The Vikings are on the home turf this afternoon hosting the Cottage Grove Lions on Sky-Em League play. Girls Softball and Boys Baseball plays out at Siuslaw High School with a first pitch at 5 o’clock, the baseball game airs at 4:45 on KCST.
Mapleton Track Meet in Florence
Mapleton will host track and field action at Siuslaw High School this afternoon. Field conditions prompted the move to Florence. The Vikings will be among the competitors with the Sailors.
Ducks Over Bulldogs
The Oregon Ducks were trailing 6-2 against Gonzaga in Spokane last night until they found a fire in their bats. A 2 run homer in the 8th fired up the Duck offense and they finished in the 9th with a 3 run homer from freshman outfielder Tanner Smith to beat the Bulldogs 7-6
