Siuslaw Baseball

The Siuslaw Vikings hosted Cottage Grove on the diamond yesterday.  Cottage Grove got off to an early lead in the first two innings and then walked away with the victory outscoring the Vikings 13-3.

Viking softball had to be postponed until today.  The Lady Vikings will play today at 5 pm.

Mapleton Track Meet

Yesterday at Siuslaw High School, Mapleton hosted their track meet due to poor conditions at their home field.  For Mapleton sophomore Emily Stevens placed first in the 100 meter race with Siuslaw’s freshman Arrianna Brown taking second.  In the 200 meters Siuslaw sophomore Gracie Freudenthal took 1st place and freshman Julia Shoji took second.  In the girls 800 meters the Vikings dominated taking the first 5 positions with Hannah Rannow taking the first place spot with a time of 2:29.64and freshman Rylee Colton set a personal best time in second place of 2:43.60.  in the 1500 meters Anne Wartnik finished in first with a time of 5:30.75 followed by Chloe Madden and Naomi Shoji.  The 3000 meter race was won by sophomore Brea Blankenship with a time of 11:21.02 followed by Mapleton’s Opal Burress who set a personal record time of 12:49.95.  100 meter hurdles was won by Gracie Freudenthal, 300 meter hurdles was won by Davina Galli.

The Mapleton team of Trinity Holmes, Brier Shird, Jahala Blake, and Emily Stevens won the 4×100 relay.  The 4×400 was won by Siuslaw’s Gracie Freudenthal, Hannah Rannow, Brea Blankenship and Naomi Shoji.  Siuslaw girls took the first 4 spots in the shot put with sophomore Andrea Osbon taking first with a toss of 34-07.  She also took first in the Discus with a throw of 99-6,75  Mapleton junior Trinity Holmes took first place in the long jump with a personal record of 13-09. And Siuslaw junior Brooklyn Cahoon took first in the triple jump with a personal record of 27-5

 

On the Boys side, Siuslaw junior Isaiah Jones took first in the 110 meters, Mapleton junior Cody Soverns took first in the 200 meter.  Siuslaw junior Brendon Jenson took first in the 800 meter and Siuslaw sophomore Ryan Jennings took first in the 1500 meter.  In the 3000 it was Siuslaw’s Jonah Jarman and Jaxson Jenson who took first and second respectively and Mapleton sophomore Phillip Burnett took first in the 110 meter hurdles.  In the 300 meter hurdles it was Siuslaw’s Ryan Jennings in first and Mapleton’s JJ Neece in second.  The Mapleton boys finished second in the 4×100 relay and in the javelin it was Ryan Rendon-Padilla in first with a toss of 164.06.  Freshman Camp Lacouture finished first in the high jump and the pole vault and junior Isaiah Jones took the long jump with a distance of 17-08.5.  Siuslaw freshman Braydon Thornton took first in the triple jump with a personal record distance of 37-01.
