Hall of Fame Inductees Announced

The Siuslaw High School Hall of Fame committee has announced this year’s inductees into the Hall of Fame.  This year’s inductees include Siuslaw Basketball Standout and former member of LSU during their 2007 SEC Championship run Ben Voogd from the class of 2005.  3 time state golf champion Jesse Schutte from the class of 2006.  From the class of 1981 Scott Parker who was a member of the state championship team and led the Vikings in rushing.  1992 graduate Andy Rodet who won state titles in the long jump and triple jump.  1972 graduate Bruce Plaep who still holds the record in the shot put.  Raelyn Robinson class of 2010 who won state titles in cross country and the 1500 meters. And three sport athlete and 2001 graduate Caley Nordahl who held the record in the triple jump and excelled in volleyball and basketball.  Also being inducted is the 1996 boys 4×100 championship team, the 1996 girls 4×100 championship team, the 1997 girls 4×100 championship team and the 1997 boys 4×400 championship team.  A complete list of athletes being honored and their accomplishments can be seen in tomorrow’s edition of the Siuslaw News.

Baseball Today

Sky-Em League Baseball this afternoon has Siuslaw at home hosting the Marist Spartans.  Pregame on KCST is at 2:45, first pitch of today’s double header is at 3 o’clock.

The Lady Viks are at home hosting the Spartan girls in a softball double header at 3 o’clock.

 

Pac Twelve Baseball this afternoon pits Oregon State against visiting Washington State in the first of a three game series.  Air time on KCFM is at 5 o’clock, first pitch at Coleman Field in Corvallis is at 5:30.

 

Oregon is on the road to Berkley for the first of three games against the Cal Golden Bears.  First pitch is set for 7:05.

Track and Field

Prep track and field action on Saturday has Siuslaw will be in Sweet Home for the Meet of Champions, While Siuslaw Junior Hannah Rannow will be competing in Portland for the 55th annual Centennial Invitation meet.  Mapleton will be in Blue Ricer for Mountain West League Meet Saturday at 11am.
