Vikings Blanked by Junction City

Junction City went on a scoring binge yesterday against the Siuslaw Vikings.  Coach Tom Shinn said that even in the loss he noticed that strikeouts for the team were down.  The team only had 6 for this game and only one of them was a strikeout looking.  In all though the Vikings managed only 3 hits on the day and did not score any runs.  Junction City scored 17.

In girls softball junction City also defeated the Vikings 21-2.

Sky-Em League Meet

In yesterday’s Sky-Em League Varsity track meet, Hannah Rannow was challenged in the 800 meter race by Marshfield’s Jazmin Chavez who stayed on Rannow’s heels.  Rannow took the finish just under 4/10’s of a second with a time of 2:22.57.  in the 1500 meter race junior’s Anne Wartnik and Chloe Madden took first and second.  Wartnik’s first place time was 5:21.36.

For the boys, Ryan Jennings scored a first place finish in the 400 meters with a time of 55.42 and junior Brendon Jenson and sophomore Jaxson Jensen took first and second in the 800 meter with less than a second separating the two.  Jaxson’s second place finish was a personal record at 2:11.11

The two repeated the feat in the 1500 meter race  Brendon Jenson took first with a time of 4:27.03 with Jaxson on his heels with a 4:28.52, another personal best for him.

Ryan Jennings finished first in the 300 meter hurdles and sophomore Andrea Osbon took first place for the girls in the shot put, the discus, and the javelin.

Ryan Rendon-Padilla and Skyler Loomis took first and second place in the javelin and second and third in the discus.

Late Beaver Rally Comes Up Short

Gonzaga upset the reigning college world series champions.  The Beavers tried to mount a late rally down 6-1 in the bottom of the ninth, but only managed 2 runs.  Final 6-3 Gonzaga.
