Athlete of the Week
The Sports Club, the Siuslaw News, and Coast Radio Sports congratulate freshman Viking softball player Bailey Overton as this week’s Athlete of the Week. Bailey was 4-6 from the plate with 7 RBI’s, two singles, a triple and a double with two stolen bases in Siuslaw’s double header wins against Cottage Grove on Friday. She also had two walks and was hit by a pitch. Coach Sean O’Mara said Overton’s defensive play was also instrumental in the dual wins.
Honorable Mention goes to Mapleton’s sophomore JJ Neece who scored a first place finish in the Javelin and the Triple jump in last week’s Toledo Twilight tournament.
Viking Baseball/Softball
It’s the final week of Sky-Em league action on the diamond. Siuslaw will be taking on Elmira at home this afternoon. Girls Softball in Florence between the Lady Viks and Falcons is at 5 o’clock. The Viking boys will host the Falcons in a game that will air on KCST at 4:45 from Jiggs Dodson Field at Siuslaw High School.
Ducks on the Mound
The Ducks will host the Portland Pilots in a non conference college game at PK Park on the University of Oregon Campus in Eugene at 6 o’clock.
