Voogd Asks For Hall of Fame Extension
2019 hall of fame inductee, Ben Voogd has asked the committee to postpone his induction for a year. Voogd is currently working as an assistant coach for the Chinese National Basketball team and would be unable to attend the induction ceremony. Siuslaw Athletic Director, Chris Johnson said Voogd is excited to be entering the Hall of Fame, and would like to be able to share the experience with his friends, family and fans.
Vikings Head to State
7 Vikings will be headed for Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham tomorrow to compete in the state championships. Coach Chris Johnson says this is one of the smallest groups going to state, but each have worked for the opportunity to be there.
“All those kids have a chance to place, and some have a great chance to win. Obviously Hannah and Ryan were state champions last year so they are defending those events.
Neece Lone Sailor
JJ Neece is the lone Mapleton student going to the 1A state championships. Neece will compete in 4 events a Western Oregon University in Monmouth.
