Duck’s Horton Steps Down

Oregon Duck Baseball coach George Horton and Oregon Athletics have mutually agreed on not extending the one year contract extension for the head coach.  Rob Mullens, Oregon’s athletic director thanked Horton for his 11 years of service and positive impact on the baseball program while Horton said he felt it was time to move on and considers himself a lifelong Duck.  The Duck’s record under Horton was 373-278-1.  A search is underway for Horton’s replacement.  Associate head coach Jay Uhlman will undertake the day to day operations until a new coach is selected.

OSU Begins National Search for Baseball Coach

Director of Oregon State Athletics Scott Barnes addressed the Beaver Nation in a letter.  The letter states that during the past nine months the university left open the possibility of the return of Pat Casey to the role of Head Baseball Coach.  Barnes stated in his address that he had hoped that Casey would reconsider after taking time to decompress and be away from the everyday grind of leading the team.  Barnes applauded the job that interim coach Pat Bailey did this year considering the injuries and members lost to last years MLB draft.  Barnes says the university will begin a national search for a new head coach.
