Rutschman Named Player of the Year; Eisert Named All-American; Ducks Open to National Attention

Rutschman Named Player of the Year

Oregon State Beaver catcher Adley Rutschman has been named Baseball America’s Player of the year.  Rutschman was recently chosen #1 overall in the MLB draft by the Baltimore Orioles.  The Sherwood Oregon native batted .411 this year leading the PAC 12.  He also led the nation with 76 walks which is an Oregon State single-season record.  He hit 17 homers and had 58 rbi’s.

Eisert Named All-American

Oregon State’s left handed pitcher Brandon Eisert was also name to the All American list.  Eisert, a Beaverton native, was 8-2 this season with a 2.03 ERA with 74 strike outs in 62 innings.  Eisert was selected in the 18th round by the Toronto Blue Jays.

Ducks Open to National Attention

The Oregon Ducks will open their 2019 football season on national television August 31st.  The Ducks will face Auburn in Arlington, Texas, a game that will be televised on ABC.  Justin Herbert is a Heisman hopeful this year and the Ducks return 17 starters to the lineup.
