Siuslaw News Adds Anderson to Sports; Emeralds Drop Another

Siuslaw News Adds Anderson to Sports

Siuslaw news reporter Jared Anderson will be assuming the position of Sports Reporter for the Siuslaw News.  After 21 years of sports reporting, Ned Hickson will hand over the responsibilities to Anderson.  Hickson says his added responsibilities of managing editor of the Cottage Grove paper has meant more time away and it was important that there was a full time person to adequately cover the sports.  Anderson has already assumed the duties of covering school activities and board meetings.

“Anything that has to do Siuslaw High School, Mapleton High School, elementary, middle school, the school district.”

Anderson says he is honored and excited to carry on with the tradition that Hickson has created.  Hickson said it was important for the Siuslaw News to be able to go past the scores and stats when reporting on sports stories and Anderson will be able to fill those responsibilities.
