Ems Win

The Eugene Emeralds held on to a close victory in British Columbia last night.  The Ems fell behind early in the bottom of the first inning when Vancouver scored two runs, but in the top of the fourth the Emeralds struck back with a 3 run inning.  The Canadians tied it up in the bottom of the fifth and then took the lead in the bottom of the 8th.  the Ems fought back with 2 runs in the 9th to take a 6-4 lead.  The Canadians were mounting a comeback when their manager, Casey Candaele was ejected by first base umpire Guillermo Rodriguez for arguing a call.  Vancouver came up short with one run to give the Ems the win 6-5.  The Ems are 2-3 on the season, game three of the four game series continues this evening at 7:05.

Ducks Eye CWS

Ducks new head baseball coach Mike Wasikowski says he wants to get the Ducks to the college world series and he wants to do it quickly.  He says he wants young men in the program that not only want to win, but make a statement.  Wasikowski added former Duck catcher Jack Marder to his coaching staff.  Marder has been working at Stanford for the past 3 years working with catchers and first basemen.  Marder has also coached at Purdue for Wasikowski.
