Ems Drop Second Boise Game; Rutschman’s Clean Sweep

Ems Drop Second Boise Game

It was a tough night for the Eugene Emeralds last night in Boise.  The Ems spattered 5 runs over 7 innings, but the Hawks answered with 11 runs of their own to outscore Eugene.  Emeralds  pitching gave up 18 hits last night and stranded 8 men on base.  The Emeralds have one more chance to get a win before heading to Hillsboro tomorrow to face the Hops who currently lead the league.

Rutschman’s Clean Sweep

The College World Series finished up last night with Vanderbilt becoming the National Champions in 8-2 victory over Michigan.  Last year’s champions, OSU, did not make it out of the Regionals this year, but did have the number 1 pick overall in the MLB Draft.  Yesterday catcher Adley Rutschman earned another honor as the ABCA player of the year.  This honor gives Rutschman the high honors of every major media publication including the Golden Spikes Award and Dick Howser Trophy, Baseball America, Collegiate Baseball, D1Baseball.com and Perfect Game.
