Ems Weekend

The Eugene Emeralds were home on the mound over the holiday weekend.  Friday night the Everett Aqua Sox defeated the Ems 10-4, but Saturday night the Ems held off a late charge by the Sox.  Eugene went into the ninth inning with a 13-3 lead, but Everett started a rally that produced 4 runs.   The Ems brought in Alfredo Colorado to get the final 2 outs to secure the win.  Final score 13-7.

Last night in Eugene the Ems hosted the Salem Kaiser Volcanoes for the first of a 6 game series with two games in Eugene, then a break for the all-star game, and four games in Salem.

Game one went to the Volcanoes after a quick start by the Ems.  The Ems shot out in front with a 4 run, second inning and then added one more in the third before Salem-Kaiser got on the board with 3 of their own.  But it was the 5 run – eighth inning – by the volcanoes that took the wind out of the Ems sails.  Final score 10 – 7, Salem-Kaiser.  Game two at PK Park is this evening with the first pitch at 7:05
