Ems Wake Up Bats

Last night the Eugene Emeralds attempted to make up for two shut-outs this week.  The Ems were at home against the Boise Hawks and started it off with a run in the first inning and lead the game the rest of the way.  A third inning home run by Catcher Caleb Knight continued the Ems dominance of the game as they scored 2 more runs in the third and 2 more in the 4th.  Boise answered in the top of the 4th with 2 runs and added a third in the 6th, but the Ems dropped 2 more runs on the Hawks in the bottom of the inning and added one more in the bottom of the 8th.  Despite two errors by the Ems they managed to hold the Hawks to 3 runs while scoring 8 of their own on 12 hits.  The Hawks stranded 13 base runners on the night as Ems pitching combined for 14 strike outs on the night.

The Ems finish up their 3 game series against the Hawks this eveining at PK Park before heading to Salem-Kaiser for three games this weekend.  First pitch tonight is at 7:05.  If you plan on attending the game be prepared for plenty of Togas as tonight they celebrate Animal House night.
