Emeralds 1 For 2 Over the Weekend

The Eugene Emeralds left Salem-Kaiser last night with just one win of their three game series.  On Friday the Volcanoes and Ems did all of their work in the fourth inning with the Ems scoring first with a two run  homer by first baseman Grayson Byrd.  The Volcanoes answered in the bottom of the inning with 3 runs.  The Ems and Volcanoes both had multiple opportunities for scoring but left runners stranded.

On Saturday the Ems struck early with two runs in the first inning and held off a late run by the Volcanoes as Salem-Kaiser threatened to tie the game in the bottom of the ninth.  A hard hit double down the left field line with one on scored first baseman Logan Wyatt for the Volcanoes, but the game ended on a fly ball for an Ems win 4-3

In the rubber match last night the Volcanoes produced 8 runs on 8 hits and stifled the Ems who hurt their chances with 3 errors on the night.  The Ems managed one run in the third for an 8-1 thrashing.

The Ems are at home for three games beginning this evening against Spokane.  First pitch tonight is at 7:05
