The Eugene Emerald’s pitchers combined for 11 strikeouts last night to shut out the visiting Spokane Indians.  The Indians lead the Northwest League’s north division while the Ems at 20-26 are tied for third in the south.  Eugene’s Blake Whitney gets the win for the Ems with 4 innings pitched and giving up just 2 hits.  The emeralds scored 2 runs on 6 hits with runs in the first and third innings.  Eugene and Spokane meet again this evening at PK Park with the first pitch coming at 7:05 p.m.  The Ems take on the Boise Hawks beginning on Friday, and then a break for the MILB All-Star Game which will be played in Boise on August 6th.
