Viking Football Progress; Ems Overtaken By Indians

Viking Football Progress

Siuslaw Viking head football coach, Sam Johnson, says summer training is coming along quite well and he is pleased with the progress so far.  He says the team is learning about team work and focusing on the little things.  Johnson told the team that if you focus on the small things the big things will take care of themselves.  Johnson says the team participated in a mudder course laid out by Brian Lacouture, which he says was great training and a lot of fun.  The Vikings open their season August 30th with a jamboree against Marshfield, Pleasant Hill and Bandon at home.

Ems Overtaken By Indians

Spokane scored three runs including a 2nd inning home run off Ems starting pitcher Josh Burgmann last night at PK Park.  The Eugene Emeralds got 5 hits on the night and managed only one run for a 3-1 loss to the Indians.   The ems have a chance tonight to break even in the series with a win.  First pitch will be at 7:05.  Tomorrow night the Ems host the Boise Hawks for three games before traveling to Boise for the MILB All-Star Game on Tuesday.
